Curry Wurst

An Amalgamation of Berlin’s Best Currywurst Recipes

1 Tablespoon cooking oil
2 Tablespoons FINELY minced onion
2-4 Tablespoons good quality curry powder
1/2 to 1 Tablespoon SWEET Hungarian paprika
2 cups good quality tomato sauce
1 cup water

Sauté the onions in the oil. Do not
Brown. Add curry powder and paprika to the onions and quickly sauté just to bring out the flavor. Add the tomato sauce and water. Simmer uncovered until the sauce is the thickness desired. Taste and adjust seasonings as desired. Serve over bite-sized pieces of Bratwurst with an extra sprinkling of curry powder. Best served with a brotchen (roll) and beverage of choice.


1.    Replace the minced onion with ˝ tsp of onion salt.

2.    Replace the tomato paste with ketchup and cut the water.

3.     Add up to 1 Tbsp of white sugar.

4.     Add up to 1 tsp of ground black pepper.

5.    Go to and order a bottle of Curry Sauce for $4.89.  Heat it up and serve it over your choice of wursts.
